Kaz Field Anderson
Co-Founder, Trauma & Hypnotherapy Trainer, Creator of the DeTrauma Technique™
Kaz and Marilyn first trained together in the 80s, completing their Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy before continuing into deeper study. In 1990, Kaz received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Instead of giving up, she chose to use the skills she had learned. She completed her surgery under self-hypnosis and focused on supporting her body naturally. She says her daily hypnosis sessions helped her stay strong through that time, and she later became a Cancer Specialist in private practice.
When her mother, Marilyn, passed away in 2016, Kaz stepped into the role of Director of Training. She now leads HTA with warmth, care, and the same nurturing spirit her mother lived by.
John Pemberton
CEO & Director of Training.
John is a passionate caring and open human being. His life career has been to educate and coach people of all ages, personalities and backgrounds, in how to get the best of themselves and live a better authentic life.
John’s journey into and discovery of the world of hypnosis, Resource Therapy, Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Gestalt therapy, has brought an amazing balance and awareness to his journey, enriching and opening his mind to the many challenges that everyday people struggle with for most of their lives, often without hope.

Kaz Field Anderson
HTA Co-Founder
Kaz & Marilyn trained together back in the 80’s, first achieving their Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, then going on to further studies.
After a terminal diagnosis of stage 4 Cancer in 1990, and being told to “get her affairs in order”, Kaz made the decision to put her knowledge to the test and had her surgery under self-hypnosis, without any chemo or radiation, to give her body every chance possible to heal naturally. Kaz believes daily hypnosis sessions saved her life. She then went on to became a Cancer Specialist in her private practice.
The loss of her beloved mother in 2016, Marilyn Newman, saw her take up the challenge of Director of Training, which is most heartfelt, as HTA was her mother’s life’s work. Kaz determined to make HTA one of the most respected schools in Australia and deliver its program with love, compassion & the nurturing that her mother so embodied. “We love that our students feel held, seen and supported in a safe space, and the true connections that students make for life is so valuable in these days” says Kaz.

Having experienced his own share of trauma, loss and grief, John Specialises in helping people deal with their own trauma and overcoming the effects of grief to bring calm and balance to others.
John’s wealth of coaching and training knowledge coupled with his passion for all things Therapy, provides structure, caring student support and confidence for learning and student cohesion.
John’s calm and soothing manner allows his clients & students to relax, trust and share in a safe and caring environment, leading to relaxed and positive outcomes.
Kasey Griffith
Past Life Regression Trainer
Kasey Marilyn is a Hypnotherapist (Dip.Clin.Hyp.) and Counsellor (BACH COUNS).
Kasey is a third generation Hypnotherapist and trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist at Hypnotherapy Training Australia many years ago.
Kasey’s preferred areas are Grief and Loss, Past Life Regression, Achieving Goals, Childhood Regression and working with children and teens.

How long will the course take to complete?
Because it is an online course, you can learn in your own time to acquire the Certificate however, our Diploma classes are scheduled for 3 days per month with corresponding lessons within the Student Portal.
To complete all of the course material satisfactorily and achieve a pass, our students invest on average around 750 hours of their time. With commitment & dedication, the Certificate and Diploma may be completed in 11-12 months. While challenging, the process is both enjoyable and intriguing. Remember! You and our future goals are worth the effort!
Why is this course different from others that are on offer?
Our point of distinction rests with the application of our own original teaching methods, “The Marilyn Newman Method”, named after our founder. Marilyn carefully documented her methods and proved their effectiveness during her long career as a Hypnotherapist and as Director of Hypnotherapy Training Australia.
As Marilyn’s Daughter, Kaz Field Anderson stepped up to Director of Training after Marilyn’s passing, she wanted to add more process work, so students could really work through their issues and gain clarity, authenticity and a complete understanding of what their clients will experience first hand.
There is no better teacher than experience and we have found that our students really get it and have consequently embodied their learning through direct experience within their own practices.
Kaz believes in a 3 pronged approach….The Mind, The Body and The Spirit. We must take all 3 into account when working with Trauma, as the Mind gets sick, then the spirit, then the body. For healing, we must work with all 3 in the subconscious.
The essential strength of Marilyn’s and Kaz’ methods combined, of both practicing and teaching Hypnotic Sciences & Psychotherapy resembles a rich marriage, combining beautifully and powerfully together the capacity to bring people to their centres, back to a space of love.
Guidance in returning to ‘the heart’ and consolidating the experience of self acceptance is the foundation of self empowerment, and therefore our capacity to reach out and help others.

How can I enrol?
After I've enrolled and paid, how do I commence my studies?
- Simply log into your account with the password and username provided and you’ll be prompted to take your first lesson.
- The lessons and training modules are neatly presented as tutorials, reading material, videos and visual aids. Once you’re confident that you understand the material in each lesson, complete a quiz which will then be promptly marked by your teacher.
- Practical lessons are held in our Virtual Classroom, where you will meet other like-minded students for Study Groups & to support each other
- Once you’ve passed a lesson, you can progress to the next lesson or module and so on.
- Your progress through the course is indicated within your account and your teacher is on hand during working hours if you get stuck or need assistance.
